Konkani Mhan

"Zanvyak divche mhanje revent mutche"

Translation:
Gifting a son-in-law is like pouring in the sand!

Meaning:
No matter how much you gift a son-in-law, he is never going to be satisfied.

  1. I didn't like this 'lonche'. Translation is not correct! :D

Btw why 'lonchya-buyaon'? Is your blog targetting the 'pregnant women' segment? LOL

  2. The translation is deliberately toned down and is correct to a certain extent. The meaning is spot on. :-)

Lonchya-Buyaon means that the blog is a Buyaon (old Goan ceramic container) and Lonche (pickle) are my posts for you to devour!

I will be more than happy if there are any readers from the pregnant women segment!

  3. Hmm...Food for thought. Maybe I should inform my mother about this ;-)

  4. Please do inform. This is a common saying in Bardez. Not sure if it is common in Salcete.
